Today, we will focus our reflection on self control, appreciation of Wisdom, faithfulness to God and reverence for God. These aspects are very necessary because they determine and teach us how we relate with God and our fellow man.
Self control is a gift from God which helps you to know what to do at any moment and to do that which please God faithfulness to God talks about the commitment to God, how diligently we should respond to God’s call. The son of Sirach will tell you the gains or advantages of being faithful to God.
Reverence for God goes together with fear of God because you must have the fear of God in you before you claim to have respect for him.
Jesus the son of Sirach also teaches you today the need to appreciate wisdom because God himself created and recognized her (Sirach 1:9).

REFLECTIONS, WISE QUOTES AND FOOD FOR THOUGHT
(Meditate over these words)
1. Have you ever wondered how wisdom came into being?
The Lord himself created wisdom; He saw her and recognized her value and so her filled everything he made with wisdom (1.9)
2. Why do some people have more wisdom than others?
God gave some measure of wisdom to everyone, but poured her out on those who love him (1.10). If your honour and fear the Lord and keep his commands he will give you wisdom in abundance (1.26) because the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom (1.14 and 1.20).
3. What is the best way to gain reputation?
Keep quiet until the right time to speak (self control) and you will gain a reputation for good sense. (1.24)
4. How can show your reverence to God?
By being careful about what your say. Never be a hypocrite. (1.29) especially in the house of God.
When you don’t show reference for the Lord, he will reveal your secrets and humble you in front of everyone in the synagogue. (1.30)
5. How do you prove your faithfulness to God?
By accepting whatever that happens to you and being patient even when we suffer humiliation. Human character is tested in the furnace of humiliation. Also trust in the Lord and he will help you. Walk straight in his ways and put your hope in him (2.46).
6. Always put your destiny in the hands of the Lord, not in human hands because his mercy is as great as his majesty (2.18).
(Recite with deep faith)
Lord Jesus, may I always fear and reverence you. Instill in me wisdom and self control and may I be faithful to you - Amen.
