REFLECTION ON TODAY’S READINGS

Today’s first reading talks about the mercies of God towards his creation. The book of wisdom praises for his mercies and compassion on his creation. God knows our weakness and pities us. He forgives our sins whenever we sin and ask for forgiveness.
BUT WILL YOU CONTINUE TO SIN FOR THE MERCY OF GOD TO ABOUND?

The second reading addresses your faith as a Christian, telling you to live lives that will make the name of the Lord to be glorified in you and you in him.

Meditate on these questions:

HOW DO YOU LIVE YOUR LIFE?
CAN PEOPLE YOUR NEIGHBOURS GLORIFY GOD BECAUSE OF YOUR LIFESTYLE?
ARE YOU REALLY WORTHY TO BE CALLED A CHRISTIAN?

In today’s gospel, you saw the effort Zacchaeus, a sinner (a tax collector) made just to see Jesus Christ as he passes through the city of Jericho. It is only in this passage that Jesus invited himself to a man’s house. He did this because he saw the effort of Zacchaeus towards repentance.

What effort have you made to leave your evil ways?
In gospel Passage Zacchaeus said, “Behold Lord, the half of my goods I give to the poor: and if I have defrauded any one of anything, I restore it fourfold.”

THE QUEST FOR RESTITUTION

Restitution is the act of repaying anything got mischievously or unlawfully from your neighbours and fellow man. Forgiveness is not complete until you restitute what you stole from your neighbour.
The household of Zacchaeus was saved because he restituted all he got mischievously.

THE DIFFERENT WAYS TO RESTITUTE FOR STOLEN ITEMS

There are many ways to restitute for stolen properties:
•             Returning the property directly to the rightful Owner.
•             Giving the stolen property or its monetary value to the poor.
•             Giving the stolen property or its monetary value to the church.

Have you ever stolen anything at all, no matter how small it may be?

Restitution is the sole solution to full salvation. Return every stolen property and be saved.
The last two options are included for those who find it difficult to go to the owner. The first option remains the best way.
